Please note that the meeting arranged for 2 November has been re-scheduled to Sunday 16 November 2008.

This meeting will be fairly informal and will include a screening of Dr David O'Donnell's informative presentation made to our 2008 Seminar on ICDs defibrillators etc. It will be followed by a pre-Christmas lunch for which members are requested to bring a plate.

A/Prof Semsarian is a Molecular Cardiologist with a specific research focus in the molecular basis of cardiovascular disease, in particular, identifying genes that cause disease and elucidating how these gene defects activate signalling pathways leading to disease. A focus area is in the investigation cardiomyopathies and sudden cardiac death in the young. A/Prof Semsarian has an established research program that performs genetic studies in humans, development of transgenic mouse models of human disease, and studies in isolated cell culture systems. All of his research has an interface between basic science and clinical research, i.e. translational research in cardiovascular medicine.
